HUMBLE ORIGINS
The businesses inception from 2007 to today has always been about providing consistent value starting with one van, a list of clients crafted from his fathers days in the fire industry.
Heath Whaley was on a mission to create something of quality.
Heath's background started with his apprenticeship on some of Sydney's biggest infrastructure projects; to date including the Lane Cove Tunnel and the Cross City Tunnel.
Heath recognised that there was a lot of redundancy and inefficiency in the way these
projects were managed and delivered.
As kids growing up watching their father work for a big multinational corporation within the
fire industry, Heath and his brother, Nathan had seen their father go through a lot of changes
over the years, by the way in which the company managed their employees.
Only focused on the output, the corporation did not engage their staff and motivate them to be part of something bigger.
They were treated as a commodity instead of a community.
Ultimately being managed in a way that made their father Alan choose to create a small
fire extinguisher servicing business which he then grew for many years successfully before retiring.
This experience made Heath realise that he wanted to create a company that was effective at delivering fire protection services in an efficient way with a focus on their people
within the company and establishing longstanding relationships with the client, retaining the
personal feel of a small family company while delivering the service capabilities of big
business.
This was how National Fire was created with the end in mind.

Project Summary
National Fire successfully tendered on this $142 million dollar project to design and install the Automatic Fire Detection System & Automatic Fire Sprinkler System which was delivered on time and on budget.
The project consisted of 144 apartments,8 retail spaces and 5 levels of basement parking. Due to the outstanding delivery of this project, National Fire was awarded the maintenance contract and has retained it since 2015.
